Reading in Room 20 is done formally and informally everyday. There are four groups of students on Reading. Each group reads a different story and does oral guided reading, which is led by a leader except for the lowest group. This group is being assisted by the teacher. All students do similar activities like comprehension questions, vocabulary development, connection and prediction, description of a character, summarisation and other forms of creative writing.
All students read fiction and non-fiction . They use reading materials like School Journals, library books, newspapers and magazines. They locate information using varied research skills like skimming and scanning, note-making and many more.
The whole class believes in the saying “Reading can take anyone to a magical world. It’s just like a dream that will come true.”
