Sutton Park School had the great responsibility to put on an awesome Powhiri for our new school principal.
SPS welcomes Mr Fa’atili Iosua Esera from Petone Central School. He was accompanied by his family, friends and work colleagues from Wellington and Auckland.
We heard the speeches of how great he is and how much he will be missed, however in the end Mr Esera had to leave his Petone family and join the “Sutton Park School family”, which was mentioned by our HEAD GIRL Tewrin Tali. We had many parents and guests come like Su’a William Sio, local Kaumatua, a Samoan Matai, Mr Watson from Otahuhu College, Dale Harvey, a representative from the Samoan Times.
Our Kapa Haka group did an excellent performance, the Samoan bi-lingual unit + Samoan students from other classes also entertained us with their songs and a dance. We then had the vibrant dances from the island of Tonga. I am sure Mr Esera was impressed!
The students and staff organised and did an AMAZING job.
As Tamale our head boy said “We look forward to what you will bring to our school”
Welcome Mr Esera to the SPS family!!!!
