Room 13b’s STEAM challenge was stacking small cups to the tallest possible height. Students’ task was to work together to create the most towering stack of cups in a period of 20 minutes. Although it sounds easy, it isn’t! I was surprised at the various approaches students had to generate to solve this challenge.

Some of the best collaboration and “aha” moments come when the tower of cups crashes to the table. At first, students felt overwhelmed and uncertain of what to do, but they instantly solved things out with the support of their classmates.
