Room 20 students are inspired to have reading using a new strategy, “Reciprocal Reading.” It gives them an opportunity to be a “teacher” for the group. It also allows them to use different comprehension strategies such as clarifying, questioning, summarising and predicting. At the end of the process, the person nominates the next “teacher.”
There are interesting and positive changes that have been happening in class since they started doing it. Their level of confidence and understanding have obviously improved. These students can write excellent summary and description using powerful vocabulary.
Worth-mentioning is their attitude towards Reading. They have become “big dreamers” in this area. This is revealed in the result of PM Benchmark test. Majority of the students have increased their level by more than five. I believe, using the right strategy can make their dream come true.
