It was a great term for Room 20. Lessons were based on the concept “Culture.” To explore it, students talked about the importance of safe classroom environment. Activities were centered on class rules or we called it “Class Treaty.” But before they arrived at said treaty, they considered at first the school values, mission and vision.
The whole class had interesting discussions about “Relationships” and its significance. They identified their best friends and their good qualities. Highlights of this topic were – writing an original poem on “Friendship” and Explanation Writing on the title “Why are good friends important?”
The last topic was on “Culture and Heritage.” Students brainstormed the meaning of “Culture.” They produced quality project like a flow chart showing their culture’s flag, language, costume, food, sports and games and many more. They also explained “Why I am proud of my Culture” and designed a Venn diagram showing the Similarities and Differences between New Zealand and their Culture.
