Erana Taufa’s Valedictory Speech
Our beautiful principal, guest speaker, teachers, students, parents and visitors. Good afternoon to you all. I’m Erana and I’ve been going to Sutton Park School for 6 years now.
When I first got here I remember thinking that this school was going to be scary. I was afraid I wasn’t going to fit in.
But everyone i’ve got to know over the past few years has been great. I’ve made some really close friends and learned from great teachers too. Mr Khan taught me new things in maths and how to solve problems using different kind of methods. Mrs.Taufalele showed me how important it is for us to embrace our cultures. I’ll never forget the time Mrs Mabalay said that is we don’t behave, we’ll end up in the principals office. Mr.Pauli taught me to never give up and always believe in myself. Mrs.Ready and Mrs.Pillay always looked beautiful in their traditional clothes. Last but not least, Whaea Molly. I just want to thank you for believing in us and pushing us till we were the best of the best. Of course it wouldn’t be the same with my awesome class mates. I use to think that going to Atea syndicate was going to be scary, but with all of my friends and everything my teachers have taught me, all I feel now is excitement. I want to thank Mr.Khan, Mrs.Taufalele, Mrs Mabalay, Mr.Pauli, Mrs.Ready, Mrs.Pillay also Whaea Molly, Mrs Cavanagh, our beautiful principal, my classmates and of course our wonderful parents for all the great advice and wonderful experiences you have provided to us all the years. On behalf of the year 6 class of 2012 I want to think you again! I just hope Aorangi syndicate remembers us as fondly as we’ll remember them. Goodbye Aorangi syndicate and hello Atea syndicate!
