Congratulations!!! Tupou Neiufi
These are Tupou’s results from competing at the New Zealand Short Course Swimming Championships. Gold in the 100m individual medley, Silver in the 200m individual medley, Silver in the 50m freestyle and Bronze in the 100m breaststroke. Tupou was the youngest to compete in the athlete with a disability category, and swum against swimmers from the ages of 15 to 22. She went to Wellington with 23 able bodied swimmers from the Howick Pakuranga Swim Club and as a club they were second overall. It was a wonderful experience for Tupou, she was able to watch the best of the best compete in the pool including the NZ olympic swimmers and paralympic swimmer Mary Fisher. While in Wellington she had the opportunity to go to Te Papa museum and was really excited to explore the museum.
Tupou is now back training hard to prepare for the Athletes with a Disability swimming long course championship held in February in Hamilton, and while she is there she is hoping to qualify to compete at NZ opens in March here in Auckland.
Congrats on your recent success Tupou at AWD champs a couple of weeks ago, and for qualifying for NZ opens next month, we are extremely proud of you. Your hardwork and determination has paid off. We look forward to cheering you on at Opens 🙂
